Watching a video about the story of Hanukkah, and then discussing the historical background and impacts.
Painting our own Chanukiahs to celebrate with and decorating them with prayers while we listen to Chanukah music.
Playing a drama game to reenact the secret study of torah and deceit of the Greek soldiers that our ancestors experienced.
Learning about the Shehecheyanu prayer, a blessing said over big life events that we are thankful for and excited about.
Performing a “Shehecheyanu Slideshow,” acting out a story of Shehecheyanu moments from the narrator’s life.
Illustrating pictures of our biggest Shehecheyanu moments and discussing ideas of other personal Shehecheyanu moments one could experience.

Reading books and watching videos about the Hanukkah story.
Doing a “Choice Day” where each student gets to choose what they do throughout the day to learn about Hanukkah! Some activities include toss the latke, Hanukkah decoration making, Hanukkah story skit making, and so much more!

Learning how we light and the blessings over the Hanukkah candles, and practicing counting eight with a game of “Simon says”
Playing driedel and doing a Hanukkah puzzle as a class to celebrate the holiday.
Creating Hanukkah candle popsicle stick puppets to practice lighting the candles with.

Reading the story of Hanukkah and discussing some of the typical traditions.
Painting our own menorahs, learning about why we light candles for eight nights, and practicing the blessings over the Hanukkah candles together.
Playing and learning the rules of dreidel.
