Famous Jewish Heroes and Icons
Our students recently explored Jewish Heroes and Icons. We discussed that Jews have been a prominent force for change and innovation throughout history and will continue to explore famous artists, athletes, scientists, inventors and actors who have made an impact on our modern world. By reflecting on how we relate to these heroes and icons we saw each student gain a familial sense of Jewish pride as well as community pride at JKG. By recognizing traits any Jewish role models have exist within yourself, students recognized that we can be our own Jewish hero and inspire others by pursuing our own personal passions and interests.

Crafted Lichtenstein Style pictures after watching this short documentary about Roy Lichtenstein's rise to fame and his perseverance through adversary
Created our own Shel Silverstein inspired poetry after reading “The Giving Tree”
Played Freeze Dance to the likes of Matisyahu, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Maroon 5, Carly Simon and Pink, all famous Jewish musicians who have shaped our world through music
