Drop-In Days
Registered Afterschool students can “drop into JKG” on a day they are not usually scheduled to attend. Your account on file will be charged $32/day. If your drop in requires transportation from your child's school, you will be charged an additional $8/day.
Note: Transportation is not always available for drop-in days.
Please provide 24 hours notice to your JKG Afterschool director if you need a drop-in day with or without transportation.
Withdrawal from Program
Please provide notice one month in advance of withdrawing your child from the afterschool program. Regular monthly charges will apply to families who do not provide one month of prior notice.
Changing Your Afterschool Schedule
Please email your JKG Afterschool director if you would like to add or remove days from your child’s weekly afterschool schedule. Changes will impact your billing as follows:
Adding days: Families who add an afterschool day to their schedule will be charged $32/day (plus optional $8/day for transportation) for the additional day through the end of the month the change occurred. Following that month:
If you pay monthly, your billing will change to the new monthly rate on the first of the next month.
If you pay annually or bi-annually, the finance team will reach out to you about the rate change.
Dropping days: Unless we receive notice the month prior to the change, families who drop an afterschool day from their schedule will be charged their same monthly rate through the month the change occurs. Following that month:
If you pay monthly, your billing will change to the new monthly rate on the first of the next month.
If you pay annually or bi-annually, the finance team will reach out to you about the rate change.
Late Pickup Fees
JKG ends at 6:00pm Monday-Thursday and 5:00pm on Friday. Beginning at 6:05pm (Monday-Thursday) and 5:05pm (Friday), a late fee of $10 per child will be charged to your account. JKG charges an additional $5 for every 5 minutes thereafter.
Student Health, Wellness, and Behavior
Student Health and Wellness
To ensure the well-being of our afterschool community:
Fever: Students must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to JKG Afterschool.
Head lice: Please notify us if your child has head lice. Students diagnosed with lice may return to JKG the day following head lice treatment. For additional information, please review the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control.
Medication
If your child needs to receive medication during JKG, please notify your afterschool director and complete a Medical Authorization Form to provide usage instructions. Please deliver your child’s medication and medical authorization form to the afterschool director. JKG does not stock over-the-counter or other medication for the afterschool community. Children are not permitted to dispense their own medication at JKG.
Emergency Protocol
In the event of a life-threatening emergency, the afterschool director will first call 911 and then notify parents or emergency contacts.
In case of a minor illness or injury to a child, JKG will notify the parent or guardian immediately. If the parent/guardian cannot be reached, JKG will notify the child’s emergency contacts.
Please let us know if your contact information or your emergency contact information changes.
JKG Afterschool is equipped with a first aid kit and all team members are CPR/first aid certified.
Student Behavior
JKG Afterschool provides a safe, positive, enriching environment for students and does not tolerate aggressive behavior, inappropriate behavior, and/or threats.
In the event extreme negative behavior occurs, JKG may ask a student to take a break from the program. The length of the break will be based on the severity of the situation and determined at the discretion of the JKG leadership team.
If, following a break, aggressive behavior, inappropriate behavior, and/or threats continue, further action includes, but is not limited to, a longer break from JKG, other interventions, or expulsion from the program.
So that we are able to give you the attention you deserve, please schedule time with your afterschool director to discuss complex issues or behavior challenges.
Schedule, Absences, and Procedures
JKG Camp Days
For an additional fee, JKG offers full-day camps (8:30am-5:30pm) on days when public schools are closed including Thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break, teacher work days, and other national holidays. JKG is closed on major Jewish holidays including Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. All parents are responsible for bringing their child to JKG on camp days.
Please note: If your child attends a private school that is open during one of our camp days, you may drop your child off at JKG when the school day ends. This option applies only to days private school students are registered to attend JKG Afterschool.
Absences
Please notify the afterschool director via phone call, text, or email if your child(ren) will be absent from JKG. We do not guarantee make-up days for students who are absent from JKG.
Inclement Weather
If the public school system your JKG location follows is closed for the day, JKG is also closed. If schools open on a delayed schedule, JKG will open as normal.
Student Dismissal
JKG Afterschool closes at 6:00pm Monday-Thursday and at 5:00pm on Friday.
Students will be dismissed for pick up only to parents/guardians and contacts listed on your child’s approved pick-up list. Please reach out to your afterschool director to add, remove, or make changes to your child’s approved pick-up list. JKG must receive written authorization for changes (this includes dismissal to other JKG parents). The first time a newly added person comes to pick up your child, they will be required to show a photo ID.
Homework and Supplies
JKG dedicates at least 30 minutes each day to assisting students with homework, studying, and reading.
JKG provides basic art supplies including crayons, markers, paper, pencils, scissors, and glue, but does not provide speciality supplies like posterboard or clay. Additionally, while some JKG sites have computer resources, parents who want to ensure that their child has access to a tablet or computer should provide that equipment for their child.
Lost and Found
Please do not send your child to JKG with valuables. JKG is not responsible for lost items including computers, books, homework, clothing, projects, toys, etc. Please label all of your student’s belongings with his/her name. Lost items found at JKG are placed in a specified location for parents to locate at pick up.
Student Drop Off and Transportation
JKG offers transportation to its afterschool program as an additional and optional service.
Caregivers who wish to drop off their child themselves to JKG may do so.
JKG Transportation Details
JKG van and bus transportation is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Cost for JKG transportation is in addition to tuition.
We pick up students from select area schools near each JKG location.
If you are interested in JKG picking up from your child’s school, please reach out to us.
Vehicle and Driver Details
JKG uses one of two vehicle types to transport students depending on site location.
Minivans: JKG transports students in Honda Odyssey 8-passenger minivans. Students ages 7 and under are required to ride in a booster seat. For students 8+, please indicate on your enrollment form whether or not you would like your child to ride in a booster seat. If your child requires a car seat, we ask that parents install it themselves into the JKG van in advance of your child’s first day at JKG.
Multi-Function School Activity Bus (MFSAB): JKG transports students in a 14-passenger Multi-Function School Activity Bus. This bus does not require drivers to have Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL). Additionally, students ages 5+ are not required to use a booster seat or car seat to ride safely in this vehicle. We do not allow children under age 5 to ride in our MFSAB.
Drivers
All JKG afterschool drivers are licensed, insured, and have a clean driving record.
JKG Bus/Van Behavior
Students are expected to enter and exit the bus and van in a timely manner, to wear a seat belt at all times, to be respectful to other students and the driver, and to follow driver instructions. As safety in transportation is paramount, JKG will address student behavior issues as necessary. In extreme cases, students may lose transportation privileges.
